To ensure that current customers continue to receive reliable water services, the North Weld County Water District (NWCWD) needs to make significant investments in infrastructure.

This November, voters will determine whether to fund these investments through rate increases or property taxes. The November ballot includes a 5-mill property tax increase to raise $5 million annually, which would cost a homeowner $13.33 per month on a home valued at $450,000.

These improvements will help make the system more reliable and resilient. The District has also taken steps to manage growth so that the demands on our system don’t exceed its capacity.

• Developers must supply water for any new development. Previously, developers were allowed to make a payment to the District in lieu of water supply. Now, the District has required developers to provide the water supply needed for development.
• Lessening the impact of commercial use. The District is working with commercial customers to decrease demand through flow control device policies and surcharge fees.
• Growth pays its own way. NWCWD has steadily increased development fees to ensure that growth contributes to needed system improvements.
